Join Rotaractors from across the west coast in a service project while they’re in town for the Zone Institute. Rotarians and guests are welcome!
Help spruce up an iconic San Diego landmark and one of the most significant historical sites on the West Coast. Presidio Park is the location of California's first mission and presidio (fort). It sits just above Old Town, the site of the first permanent European settlement in California. Presidio Park is a public park operated by the City of San Diego's Parks and Recreation Department.
Volunteers will work with Ranger Kyle from Parks and Rec to help spruce up the park. Tasks may include: raking up pine needles, gathering palm fronds, weeding and removing non-native plants, and trail maintenance.
Getting There: We'll meet at the top of Presidio Hill, near the restrooms, at 4299 Cosoy Way, San Diego, CA 92101. We'll be at the top of the hill, near the restrooms. Local Rotaractors and Rotarians may be available to help with carpooling. Please let us know if you can help drive Rotaractors to the project from the Town & Country in Mission Valley.
Attire: Closed-toe shoes are required. Volunteers should dress in layers and wear clothing they don't mind getting dirty.
Bring: Reusable water bottle and sun protection such as a hat and sunscreen. Gloves and tools will be provided.
Physical Requirements: Tasks will be provided to accommodate for a range of abilities. The park space is on a hillside and is unfortunately not ADA accessible.
